Subject: Winter weather safety

Dear Friends,

As you know, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the metro Atlanta region. The current predictions are for a combination of rain, sleet, snow and possible ice accumulations on our roads. By taking a few simple steps, you can effectively prepare yourself for the upcoming storm.
After you arrive home this evening, I encourage you to avoid driving again until after officials have deemed conditions safe to travel. If your must leave your home, prepare an emergency car kit in case your car becomes impaired and you have to wait for assistance.
Rest assured, Georgia Power is monitoring the approaching severe weather and is preparing to respond to any potential interruptions in service for its customers. Customers may call, 1-888-891-0938, to report any power outages or concerns. Additionally, Georgia Power customers can report an outage, check the status of an outage and sign up for personalized notifications via phone, text, and email, any time here. The website also includes useful information, such as safety tips and links to emergency resources, to help Georgians prepare and plan for severe weather.
As always, please continue to monitor the weather situation closely. Also, familiarize yourself with winter weather terms in order to fully understand any changes you may notice.
